There are 2 nature walks in the campsite. A lot of protected species live within the Fordell estate. Bark rubbings and tree identification, bird and animal spotting is encouraged. The picking of flowers (especially bluebells) and berries must be strongly discouraged. Because of the location of the nature trails it is recommended that youngsters are supervised by a responsible person.
The camp site also has a ‘pond’ and boggy area. Activities on the pond are actively discouraged.
Bat boxes and bird boxes have been made and are fitted in various locations on the site.
Wild animals that can be seen within the campsite are:
Rabbits (lots of them - around the car park)
Squirrels (please don't feed them)
Deer
Birds of prey
Moles ( well you can see the mole hills!)
Mice
Newts
our resident woodpecker
